The Process
Journaling Memories is a process intended to exercise the mind and preserve one’s unique life story, especially for those suffering from progressive memory weakness. It helps to treat the various forms of memory loss resulting from aging or disease, allowing users at any stage of life to recall and chronicle hundreds of thoughts, actions and events spanning their lifetime. This process offers an organized means of creating a comprehensive and permanent legacy document. It also presents the opportunity to provide thoughts, lessons, and messages for reflection by future generations.
There is no limit to the depth of information that may be included as part of the journaling process. The quality and detail will generally depend on the respondent’s level of commitment. Likewise, some of the questions in the Journaling Memories workbook may be skipped or modified if deemed less relevant or important to the user’s life. The guide also offers the opportunity to add one’s own questions or statements beyond what is included. No detail is unimportant, and the process can be as unique to each individual as they desire.
In addition to the written journal entries, the user may choose to collect and include photos and other relevant materials to their life. This effort can assist in developing a comprehensive file and stimulating thought.
